Friends, it’s already October. Leaves are changing colours, the weather is getting cooler and, of course, Hallowe’en is around the corner.
If you’re into the spirit of trick-or-treating, you’ll want to consider decorating your garage door for all the kids (and the kids-at-heart) in your neighbourhood. It’s a great way to show your house is ready for the ghouls and goblins.
From simple to ornate, for amateurs to experts, whatever your skill level, there’s something you can do to take part in the festivities with everyone else. This is a sure-fire way to let everyone know your house is THE place to be on October 31!
A simple monster
If you have a dark-coloured garage door, consider a simple monster decoration. This is simple enough and requires little work. A stitched-mouth, a couple of eyes, and directional eyebrows and voilà. This can all be done (and removed) simply with white masking tape
If you have window panes at the top of your garage, create a few hands by cutting out decals on black paper and affixing them to the inside of the windows. Remember to leave the light on inside your garage to give the impression your captives are trying to escape.
Maybe it’s the wicked witch of the west who got caught under your garage door, or maybe it was someone else. Get creative and it can be as frightening or as fun as you want it to be.
For those who are a little craftier, create an intricate decal cut-out in wood or cardboard, paint it black and instal it about an inch or two away from the garage door itself. This will leave room for the backlighting so you can create the magical (and scary) effect.
Enter If You Dare
Alternatively, you can always convert your entire garage into a den of fright. Make it your very own haunted garage and invite everyone to take a tour. Skeletons, spiders, slime and more. You are only limited by your imagination. So get creative and make sure to have fun with it all!
