Common Garage Door Issues that need Repair

Garage-Door-RepairIf your garage door is not functioning as it should, don’t delay in contacting a qualified repair service. The longer you wait the worse the problem can get. Along with this, some garage door related issues could pose a safety risk.

While you never know what type of garage door related issue you are going to run into, some are more common than others.

Garage Door Opener Trouble

In today’s day and age, most garage doors are operated by a remote opener. This way, you don’t have to manually open and close the door when you want to come and go. While this is a great convenience, it can also lead to problems from time to time.

Some of the most common issues associated with a garage door opener include:

  • The remote is no longer working as it should
  • Garage door reverses when hitting the floor instead of staying down
  • The garage door opens but the motor does not stop when it should

Torsion Springs need Replaced

Garage door torsion springs are only meant to last so long. At some point, your springs will go bad and need to be replaced.

This may sound like a simple job, but it can actually be quite dangerous if you don’t know what you are doing.

Since the springs are under tension, replacing them takes a skilled professional. Any mistake could lead to serious injury to you and/or your property.

Garage Door is Sticking

This may not sound like a big deal if the door eventually opens or closes. However, this problem will consistently worsen if not taken care of appropriately.

If your garage door is sticking, the hinges and metal rollers may simply need lubricated. Along with this, there is a chance that the tracks are clogged, out of line, or caked with dirt.

As a homeowner facing one of these common garage door issues, don’t overlook the ease of calling in a professional.
